Pacific Coast Highway

California State Route 1, or the Pacific Coast Highway, is one of the most beautiful drives in the country. Winding in and out of coastal towns, around steep cliff sides plunging into the ocean, and passing some of California's most beautiful and notable destinations, this route makes for perfect leisure traveling. Recommended stops include Big Sur, Carmel and Monterey, Santa Cruz, and Bodega Bay where Alfred Hitchcock famously filmed The Birds.
